The T-64B’s hull is covered with a protective structure, likely consisting of armored components. The design features decorative side panels, exhaust system modifications, and wavy radiator grilles. The turret is completely enclosed, with a rear compartment housing additional equipment.
It appears that the updated tank was developed by local companies such as Semey Engineering or the Chirchik Repair Factory, although the official manufacturer has not yet been confirmed.
One of the key technical upgrades is the replacement of the original 5TDF engine with a South Korean Doosan DP222LC diesel engine producing 950 horsepower. New headlights and a possible night vision system for the driver have also been added. However, the tank lacks traditional external optical systems and weapons like the NSVT machine gun or smoke mortars.
According to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Defense, the new T-64B weighs 38.5 tons and can reach speeds of up to 50 km/h. The absence of external optics and the use of armored fairings highlight the focus on protection and survivability in modern combat environments where drones play a key role.
The initiative follows a trend seen in other T-64 upgrades, such as Ukraine’s T-64MV version presented in 2020.
